Video of the Week - The 48 Hour Film Project Topic:Film/VideoCategory:For Tuesday

This week's video is the result of the 48 Hour Film Project held in Columbus August 15-17, 2008. It's kinda what it sounds like - local filmmakers were given a character, a prop and a line then let loose. Phantods provided the song near the end of this entry.

BenCo Presents and Milo Arts First Shows Topic:ShowCategory:For Tuesday

Disclosure: I'm also the web geek for Ben Hamilton/BenCo Presents.
When Little Brother's closed, talent buyer Ben Hamilton decided to take the shows on the road. Over the past year or so I've watched him go from a few scattered shows at various venues under the moniker "Pure Joy" to several shows per month as BenCo Presents. Oh, and there's at least one instance of 2 shows in 1 night coming up. While booking at several venues has its advantages and options, a larger venue where BenCo had more exclusive access was also desired.
Enter Milo Arts. Located on E. 3rd Avenue near Cleveland Avenue, Milo Arts is an old school turned artist community. The building has many studio, meeting and living spaces. One of those spaces is a large gym/cafeteria that already had a stage. Sure, Milo has hosted Milo eLEKtRic/Icebox events, a Pandora.com town meeting, the Rock Potluck and more. But BenCo shows in this gym/cafeteria probably represent the biggest, regular series of music shows Milo has ever hosted.
I know with a new space a bit off the beaten path, people will have questions and concerns. First, there will be a full bar. Probably even cooler is that for each BenCo Milo show a non-profit organization will work the bar and keep the profits. There is ample fenced in parking with a parking attendant on duty. Ages 18 and over are permitted. The last I heard Credit/Debit Card options we're being explored but not finalized, so I'd bring cash to be safe. I have no idea if there will be any food options. Maybe invite your favorite taqueria truck, gyro cart or weiner wagon to the show?
