Live Shows | Trivia | Comics | Tunes | Lines | Weekly Site Ah, the Hairy Patt Band. A scary drum/acoustic guitar scum folk duo. And "Hoboken Joe" (from their Choke CD, Buford's Last Pusser ) is one of my favorite hoedowns. Earwig (based in the Columbus suburb, Whitehall, Ohio) released a full length CD in the summer of 1994. Here's Mink from the Mayfeeder CD. Two of the guys in Earwig also run local label, Lizard Family Music. Speaking of Lizard Family, their compilation CD, The Beautiful People: An LFM family gathering , has pairs-o-songs by Earwig, Preston Furman, Monster Zero, Ugly Stick and Bigfoot. (Let's see, carry the 1.) That's 10 tunes! Bigfoot's Stones blues anthem romp, Lollipop, is even better live. So Mary Adam 12 is kinda known for the big crowds groovin' to their smooth slow 70's Tower of Powerish funk. However Gone Again, from their self-title debut CD, is a great pop tune, a la Squeeze with horns and a female vocalist. Razor Burn is from Pet UFO's second CD, My Name is Esther Cohen (Double Deuce). Pet UFO's drummer (& his wife) run Columbus label, Burnt Sienna Records and Bernie's Bagels/The Distillery. And ya can even send Burnt Sienna e-mail. Why not another Burnt Sienna band to wrap this six pack up? Pretty Mighty Mighty is kinda an arty, folky grunge band. (It's my goal to describe them in sincere, flattering ways that they hate.) Here's Ugly, from their CD of the same name. |
