UPDATE: I got power back Wednesday, but given it is so late in the week, I've got other deadlines and many people and venues are still without power, I'm calling this a vacation week for Cringe and the Live Shows Calendar. I plan to resume the regular schedule Friday.
Like about 50% of Columbus I lost power last night. When I left this morning it was still out. Fortunately work has power and in the last few minutes work regained internet access.
I may get to the Live Shows calendar tonight, but no promises.
I hope everyone is dealing with the storm damages and outages with no major problems. I think I'm gonna make a big crock pot stew of everything in my fridge if power is still out tonight.

I was just forwarded an email from Brian Casey's brother. Brian Casey died quietly in his apartment Monday, September 8, 2008.
Brian is probably best known as one of the pillars of local jazz institution, Honk, Wail & Moan. I considered him one of the best modern/jazz composers in Columbus - and my personal favorite. Brian and Honk, Wail & Moan are largely responsible for exposing me to Charles Mingus, Sun Ra and the more experimental sides and edges of jazz and modern music.
Primarily performing as a trombonist and pianist, Brian played a variety of other instruments and non-instruments. He performed and/or recorded with many bands in town over the last 18 or so years including Larry and the Groove Children, Mary Adam 12, The Sure Things, New Basics Brass Band, The New Bomb Turks, and Pica Huss. His compositions and arrangements have also been used in film, video, and dance.
